Joy

Whew… what a week! What an absolute whirlwind. I’ve never consumed so many happy dog videos, dancing and comedy reels, treated myself to some new houseplants, and last but not least—Mama Nature graced us with some beautiful sunshine! Ole gal had to have known what was needed, as she always does.

On a serious note, though, I also found myself at a crossroads. Do I allow myself to become consumed with “doom and gloom,” or do I move on in avoidance of the changing world around me? The caveat here is that just moving on in blatant nonchalance somehow doesn’t sit well with my spirit. I just can’t sit with “delulu” being my source of comfort. If that works for some, I definitely wouldn’t be the one to judge. We all have our own “coping mechanisms.” How we protect our spirit and well-being never requires the approval of others. It owes no explanations.

Sooo, I found a happy medium that works for me—JOY! Things may be chaotic, uncertain, trying, or even scary right now… but I have the power. My weapon is joy. Joy, coupled with gratitude, go so well together… like beans and rice, peanut butter and jelly, fried chicken and hot sauce! Things don’t have to be perfect to create happy moments. I can still look forward to all the good things while being present and blatantly aware of the reality of what’s going on in the world. I can do my part, to make the world better.

My GOD didn’t give me the spirit of fear, and HE wants me to enjoy all the beautiful things HE says I deserve. So, it’s time to move forward. This life is meant to be lived.

“Document the moments you feel most in love with yourself – what you’re wearing, who you’re around, what you’re doing.
Recreate and repeat.”
